Biking, Hiking and Walking:
There are miles and miles of paved trails in the Golden
Isles making it easy for you to travel to many of the
historic sites, beaches, shopping or restaurants. A few
of our trail systems include:
St. Simons Island Trail System has over 30 miles of bike
and hiking paths surrounding the island from the north
end passing Frederica Park, to the south end village in
the Pier Village area. St. Simons Island Beach is very
suitable for biking with its hard-packed sand.
Jekyll Island Trail System has nearly 25 miles of paved
paths for you to discover the island’s breathtaking
scenery and the Historic Landmark District. Or take a
bike ride along Jekyll Island’s 10 miles of beaches
including Driftwood Beach, Glory Beach and St. Andrews
Beach.
The Coastal Georgia Greenway is a multi-purpose trail,
and when completed will go 450 miles through 6 Coastal
Georgia Counties. Existing trails now include:

Trail System)

The Off-Road Bike Trail is
located in Blythe Island Regional Park at 6616 Blythe
Island Hwy in Brunswick. Recommended for intermediate to
advanced bikers, the loop is more than three and
one-half miles but is split into sections: Two Path
Road, Sonoma, Hump de Bump, Back Stretch, and Zig Zag.
Birding:
Georgia Audubon Society has designated two
significant birding areas in the Golden Isles – Little
St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island.
Boating and
Sailing:
The Golden Isles, with access to the Atlantic Ocean,
the Intracoastal Waterway, tidal creeks and rivers,
offer a wide range of boating options, from marina
services to sailing to charter fishing to kayaking.
